    1. Thank you for your message, I hope you will consider joining the group. Would you be interested in joining the midwifery-history JISCLIST? If so, I will send you the link, you could then introduce yourself and your work to a wider audience -currently they are mainly from the UK,although there are with some from other parts of the world.
I would be interested in exploring an international section for the website, are there any resources we could include for Spanish scholars or any other links to websites we have not included which may be useful?

  2. Hello,
I’m a student currently at Holy Cross Sixth Form College (Bury) and I am interested in studying Midwifery at University in the future. I want to gain an insight into the world of midwifery before I apply though in order to make sure its the career path for me and help me gain an insight into the roles of a midwife. I was just wondering if there was any relevant work experience placements/shadowing opportunities/observation sessions you could offer me to do with womens health/care/midwifery etc. My college are willing to pay for CRB checks and sort out paperwork. Anything you can offer would be greatly appreciated. If you want to know more about me please ask.
    Thank you,
    Naomi Hipps

  4. My Great Grandmother Martha Broomhead was a midwife in Sheffield. In the 1911 census her occupation is certificated midwife, she was 56 year old at that time so I guess she was probably a midwife before 1902. I have a photograph of her in her uniform and I have information about where she lived and about the 16 babies she herself had (9 of whom died). I could send you a copy of my photo and the information I have. My main reason for doing this would be in the hope that you will find out more about her and let me know.
